Social media algorithms change all the time, as do trends and it’s actually really difficult to stay on top of it, unless you spend a lot of time watching what is going on - our guess is you are too busy running your business for that. So, we have put together some simple tips to keep up with your socials.

Why use social media

Social media can feel quite overwhelming and even when you think you have it all sorted, it’s hard to find the time to post regularly, or to think of what to post, let alone create content to keep up with the latest trends. There are some really big benefits of having a presence for your business on social media though. One in particular is for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Think of a social media account as another directory poitning to your website. It’s free, it provides a lot of information about your business including visual infomation and your competitors are there, so you should be too. The more ‘online listings’ you can have pointing towards your website (including social media, databases, other website links, directories, etc.) the more search engines like Google will be able to find you and therefore move your website up in it’s search rankings.

Valuable insights

Another huge benefit for having a social media presence is being able to measure your customers (and potential customers) habits, motivations and preferences. You have free-reign to watch and learn how people interact with things you post, such as photos, videos, information, links… the options are endless. Right in front of your eyes you can gather valuable data to assist you in making plans for future marketing activities - and this is all still free!

Now you know how being present on social media can greatly help your business marketing (and did we mention it’s free?!) the next steps are how to make your life easier when using social media for your business. 4 tips to simplify
social media

1. Choose the correct platforms

First things first, ensure you're investing time in platforms which align with your business and audience. Unsure about where to begin? Simply ask your customers which platforms they use. Whether it's Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tik Tok, YouTube or others, you want to be where your audience is.

2. Plan ahead with a calendar!

A visual roadmap can be a game-changer. Download our handy printable calendar template, and start planning. Jot down your content ideas and pick dates for each post. You don’t have to post every day, if you are posting 2-4 times a week, make sure you spread your posts out to keep your feed looking busy and your followers interested.

3. Schedule your posts

Want to save time and ensure consistency? Use tools like Meta Business Suite to pre-schedule your posts and stories for both Facebook and Instagram. This way, you won’t have to manually post every time.

4. Diversify your content

Stumped about what to post? Here are six content types to boost your engagement:
