A harmonious journey of music & marketing

At C i, we understand the power of creating harmony and building connections, ensuring each element works together seamlessly to achieve the best results.

But for Liz, this philosophy extends beyond marketing - into her passion for music, as a dedicated member of the Christchurch City Chorus.

The Christchurch City Chorus has earned a reputation as the “All Blacks of singing”— a title that reflects their success in the world of competitive barbershop harmony, having won every single New Zealand competition they’ve ever entered. They are the most successful Australasian chorus, known for their high standards and incredible talent.

This year, Liz and her fellow chorus members are excited to be back on the international stage for the first time since Covid, representing NZ in the prestigious 76th Annual International Convention & Competition of Sweet Adelines in Kansas City, USA. The chorus is looking forward to reconnecting with their fellow international Sweet Adelines, many of whom they haven’t seen in person since before the pandemic.
From October 28 - November 2 (2024), the world’s best choruses will gather at the Kansas City Convention Center. There, the Christchurch City Chorus will face a tough but exciting challenge: competing against the best choruses from around the globe.

Bringing Kiwi charm to musical theatre flair

The Christchurch City Chorus will be performing songs from beloved musical theatre classics and their performances promise to bring creativity, humour and a distinctive Kiwi twist to the stage to captivate a global audience.

The competition is not just about hitting the right notes —it’s a showcase of commitment, collaboration and dedication to the craft. A balancing act that resonates with Liz’s approach to business, in an industry where you have to work together as a cohesive team to reach a common goal. It requires countless hours of practice, immense teamwork and a drive for success.

But, standing out on the global stage won’t be easy. The international choruses are always tough competitors, and the lineup this year is strong! Nevertheless, Liz and the team are ready to give it their all.

A lesson in harmony

Whether it’s in the rehearsal room or the boardroom, Liz’s experiences with both the Christchurch City Chorus and C i Marketing offer valuable parallels and insights into the way we approach marketing.

In a finely tuned chorus, every member has a role to play, and only by working together can they achieve precision and harmony. Similarly, to make your marketing sing, every piece of a project—from photography to website creation — must align to create a cohesive, consistent and effective message on every medium.

As Liz gets closer to stepping onto the international stage in Kansas City, we are inspired by her commitment. Her dedication to both her music and her work, is a testament to embracing teamwork, building connections, lots of creativity and a healthy dose of fun and laughter.

Join us in supporting Liz!

If you’d like to follow along, you can watch the live-stream at 4am Friday 1st November, or on You-Tube for a week or so later to skip the early start. If they make it to the Finals, the top ten will be singing and dancing their hearts out via live-stream on Sunday 3 November.

Join us in cheering for Liz and the Christchurch City Chorus, wishing them the best of luck as they represent New Zealand on the global stage, knowing that no matter the outcome, their journey is a testament to hard work and harmony!

In the spirit of true transparency, we would like you to know that we used AI to create the images above, as you can probably tell. Why, you ask? Well, first of all (at the time this news story was created), the chorus competition hadn’t happened yet, so there weren’t any photos of a happy carefree Liz in a golden dress in Kansas city…
And secondly, as marketers there are so many technologies, platforms and softwares to master and AI is here to stay, so we need to stay up to date as well! As you can see from the photo, there are
lots of advantages, but equally some pretty big pitfalls (check out Liz’s third leg in the second picture), so it is up to us to learn how best to use it. Stay tuned for our next blog where we unpack AI a bit more…

(Also, we thought you would get a giggle out of how AI interpreted our very thorough description of Liz…enjoy!)
